Darwin Olympics: Red Sox Fans Damage World Series Trophy By Throwing Beer

Meanwhile in Boston . . .

The Red Sox championship parade happened yesterday, and you would think Boston fans would be accustomed to winning enough that some wouldn’t be acting such a fool as this.

Not sure when, but at some point it became totally normal to toss beer to Champion athletes on the floats.  Sure, maybe it’s fun to toss your favorite athlete a brew and watch them catch and drink it . . . but tossing does not mean HURLING full beer cans!!

No safe, dudes!

Mookie Betts was close to being taken out by a full can of the adult beverage, but it was deflected by another with cat-like reflexes.

Unfortunately, Red Sox manager Alex Cora wasn’t so lucky. He got nailed in the back by an open can and was super not happy about it. (The dude that threw that one actually wound up getting arrested.)

But wait, there’s more . . .

Someone chucked a beer that DAMAGED the World Series trophy!!

Fortunately it’s only minor damage, and the team says it can be fixed, but this is one huge “C’MON, MAN” moment!

So, to those Boston Red Sox fans that were channeling their inner MLB pitcher to lob those cans, YOU are today’s winner in our DAAAAAARRWWIIIIIIIIIIN OOOOOOOOLYYYMPIIIIIIICCSSSSS!!

Watch the video (around the :43 mark is when the trophy takes a hit):
