Darwin Olympics: KY Man Crashes Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs

Meanwhile in Kentucky . . .

Saturday was the Breeders’ Cup race at Churchill Downs, when police had to intervene in quite the situation.

A 24 year old Georgetown resident named Michael Wells-Rody was, as cited by the Kentucky State Police, “manifestly under the influence of alcholic beverages [when he] snuck into a restricted area he was not authorized to be in.”

What was 24 year old Wells-Rody doing in that restricted area you ask?  Dude mounted and too off on a horse!

Wells-Rody made it out of the tunnel and into the track entrance. As stated in the citation, “When asked to leave the horse and the area, the subject became loud and disorderly by causing an alarm to Churchill staff members.

The not-even-quite-amateur jocky was taken to the Jefferson County Detention Center and has since been charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
