Darwin Olympics: Guy Buys Island, Then Steals From Kmart

Meanwhile in Florida . . .

There’s a guy that’s taking the whole theory of “mo’ money, mo’ problems” in a whole different direction.

Last month, Florida Keys resident Andrew Lippi (59), who ones the 12 bedroom mansion used for the 17th season of “The Real World” in 2006, bought a private island with a huge estate for $8 million.

Well, apparently he needed some stuff for his new mansion on his new private island, so he hit up his local Kmart over the weekend for a five-finger-discount shopping spree.

However, his attempt to steal $300 worth of stuff from Kmart failed and he was arrested.

Originally, Andrew bought a couple coffee makers, some light bulbs, and a bed skirt. Then, tried to return the items, but put other stuff in the boxes — he put an old pillowcase in the box for the bed skirt . . . replaced the new light bulbs with old light bulbs . . . and put a basketball in one of the coffeemaker boxes.

Guess he didn’t realize customer service actually checks items that are returned.

Andrew’s claiming he didn’t do it, and that someone else must’ve switched out the products.  (We’re going to put this in the dog-ate-my-homework category.)

Dude is now facing a felony grand theft charge and is due in court next week.
