Meanwhile in Florida . . .
(We promise, we don’t actively look for stories from Florida — the just find us.)
A guy from St. Petersburg was on his bicycle when Gulfport police tried to stop him for a light violation . . . but dude took off!
Donald Steven Dugray (20) was on the run when he crashed into a sergeant’s cruiser . . . then, when he hit the pavement, a revolver hidden in his waistband fell out.
So, dude grabbed the gun and continued to run, then decided ditch the revolver by tossing it on the roof of a nearby diner (which was obviously later recovered by authorities).
Then — check this out — DUDE tried to carjack someone . . . who happened to be an undercover police officer!
The undercover officer had just pulled up to the area to assist in the pursuit and had just opened his car door, hadn’t even stepped out yet, when Donald crabbed the door and tried to carjack him!
The highly trained undercover police officer hit the dude away with the car door and pulled his gun on him while the other officers in pursuit caught up to the dude to take him into custody.
Donald was arrested, but not without violently resisting arrest, first.
The charges — carrying a concealed firearm . . . resisting arrest . . . fleeing police . . . and tampering with evidence.
Dude should have just stopped when he was being pursued on his bike for that light violation . . . but instead, wound up in the Pinellas County jail with a 135,500 bail.
Side note . . . dude is also facing charges of violating his probation on charges of burglary and grand theft. Yep . . . running totally made things worse for him.
Speculation: Dude probably ran because he was like “I’m on probation, I can’t have police stop me for ANY reason . . . especially since I have this gun hidden in my waistband,” but instead, he made things way, WAY worse for himself.
Crime-in’ ain’t easy.
