Darwin Olympics: Dutch YouTuber and Friend Arrested Trespassing Near Area 51

Meanwhile in Nevada . . .

Just went you were wondering how many people would actually show up to the whole Storm Area 51 thing, and how many arrests might be made, we have a story that happened before Alien Fest even began!

Two Dutch friends, Ties Granzier (20) and Govert Charles Wilhelmus Jacob Sweep (21) were busted trespassing near Area 51.

These guys made it about three miles into the Nevada National Security Site, but get this . . . they weren’t part of the Facebook Event about people storming the area this morning.

Apparently they wanted to see Area 51 on their own before they flew back home.

One of the guys shared, “We didn’t have any intention to storm it because we leave one day before the actual storming dates, and we just wanted . . . to go there [to get a good view of it].”

Both men explained to police that they can read, write, and speak English, and totally saw and understood the “No Trespassing” signs, but they still wanted to see the facility, dagnabbit.

Oh, and Granzier also told authorities he was a YouTuber, which was borderline confirmed when deputies found cameras, a phone, laptop and a drone in dudes’ vehicle.

The guys plead guilty to trespassing and illegally parking — both misdemeanors — and were sentenced to a YEAR IN JAIL!

The sentence was suspended with the two spending a total of three days in the county jail, released yesterday, and were fined $2,280 . . . each!

Oh, and they also had to turn over ALL OF THEIR EQUIPMENT found at the time of the arrest.
