Darwin Olympics: Drunk Dude Needs Rescued After Jumping in Lake to Escape Sobriety Test

Meanwhile in California . . .

One guy learned his fight or flight instinct leans toward the side of flight when he tried to run from the cops.

Robert Callahan (31) had been partaking in too many adult beverages and riding around on a friend’s speedboat most of the day on the Fourth of July, when someone called the police about a “very intoxicated” boat operator.

Some boat cops were able to track Robert down on the lake and pulled up to administer a field sobriety test.

Robert wasn’t having it . . . tossed off his life jacket . . . and dove into the water in an attempt to swim away.

He made it about 50 yards, too . . . before needing to be rescued!

Robert quickly realized he needed help and yelled for the boat police to come pick him up.

With a blood-alcohol level of 0.29 (about 3 times over the legal limit for driving OR boating), he was arrested for operating under the influence. His friend, the boat owner, was also arrested – his charge was for public intoxication.
