Darwin Olympics: Company Founder Gambles Away $1.44 Billion

Meanwhile in China . . .

Unfortunately, businesses go under all the time, but this might be a new one.

A cell phone company in China called Gionee is in serious trouble of going under, all because their founder, Liu Lirong, GAMBLED away the company’s funds . . . $1.44 Billion!

Liu claims that number is an exaggeration and he really only gambled away, “about one billion.”  Umm . . . OK dude, whatever helps you sleep at night.

In an attempt to salvage what’s left, Gionee is starting bankruptcy reorganization efforts next month.

*Though the Darwin Olympics is all in good fun, we do want to acknowledge that gambling addiction is real. If you struggle, please know you’re not alone. There is hope, there is help.
