You Ate What?

I was thinking over the weekend about what I’ve splurged on when it’s come to food.  And I have to say, not much.  But I have eaten gold.  Yeah, gold, like dug up out of the ground gold.  This was a few years back, Ruthanna and I went to help a friend do some filming and the company put us up at a very nice swanky hotel.  Now most of our food was covered so here’s my wife trying different things and not feeling guilty about not eating all of it.  And here I am, just trying to find some fried chicken on the menu, which they did have but by the time I got through the description of it and how it was “healthy”, I just something off the kids menu.  But one thing I did splurge on, was as it was labeled in the display case, “Gold Cupcakes”.  I had passed by them a few times going to where we were shooting the videos and back to our room and thought about trying it but the price was turning me off.  One cupcake was like 50 bucks or something.  However, on the last day of filming, I just threw caution to the wind and got myself one of those golden cupcakes and asked the lady how do you eat the thing?  She said “honey just like a Walmart cupcake”, so I shoved that booger in my mouth.  Now I didn’t have a Mountain Dew to wash it down so I was a little unimpressed but it was pretty good.  Mind you not 50 bucks good, but I splurged and I got it.  We stopped at McDonald’s on the way home and I got my normal, two cheeseburger extra value meal, but dang it, I had something that only a few people in my circle have ever had and I thought that was pretty cool.
