Why Disney Execs Are Not Pleased With Evangeline Lilly

Ruh roh . . .

Have you heard about how actress Evangeline Lilly made some comments and threw serious shade about the whole self quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic thing?

Well, in case you missed it — Lilly stated she was super against quarantining and is continuing to live her life. (OK, dude, we get it, you play a superhero but you realize you’re not one in real life, right?)

The actress, known for playing the Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been boasting about still dropping her kids off at gymnastics camp and play dates, even posting a cup of tea with the hashtag “#BusinessAsUsual.”

After the internet came for her, Lilly stood her ground even more so by stating COVID-19 is just a “respiratory flu” and while some people value their lives more than their freedom, she is someone who values her freedom more than her life — and the lives of others, apparently.

By the way . . . she has two young kids in her home AND her dad, who has stage 4 leukemia, lives with her, too.

“We all make our choices,” states the actress.

Even Sophie Turner came at the Wasp like the bad*** Kween she is, popping off in a video without actually naming Lilly, “Stay inside. Don’t be[expletive deleted] stupid. Even if you count your –  [does air quotes] ‘freedom over … your health.’ I don’t give a [expletive deleted] about your freedom. You could be infecting other people, other vulnerable people around you by doing this. So stay inside guys! It’s not cool, it’s not big, and it’s not clever… And that’s the tea.”

OK, soooo, now . . .

Lilly’s bosses at Disney are NOT here for what she had to say either.

Evangeline portrayed Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man (2015), who becomes Wasp, and she had an even bigger role in the follow up film Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018).

In the third Ant-Man film (slated to be out sometime around 2022, buy maybe after), Lilly’s Wasp character was supposed to have just a big a role, but it looks like rewrites are happening and her role may be minimized.

This is all according to a so called “source,” that because of Lilly’s comments, Disney execs, and film producers and writers are reworking the script to “severely minimize” her involvement.

The film is looking to now focus more on Paul Rudd‘s character Scott Lang (AKA Ant-Man) relationship with his daughter Cassie who becomes the superhero named Stature.

Looks like Evangeline is getting demoted to a supporting role.

How’s that “freedom” taste, huh?

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary."
