What We See

What We See

My little girl LOVES going places. Well while at the beach she saw this flower that had fallen off the plant.  What does she do?  She picks it up and looks at it and instead of tossing it away, she hangs on to it and starts showing everyone.  Everyone that will look at her flower she tells where she got it and how it’s her favorite.  But what struck me was the fact that she didn’t pull it off a plant, nor did anyone else, it fell off the plant.  It’s seen it’s better days and is starting to turn brown.  But instead of seeing a bloom where the beauty has faded, my little 3 year old thinks it’s beautiful the way it is.  With blemishes and all.  So much so she asked could she take it home.  So mommy showed her how pressing it in a book will keep it and she will be able to look at that flower for a long time.  It saddens me to think there will come a day when she will ask herself what did she ever see in that flower, but for now, a 3 year old chooses to see the beauty not the blemishes.  My life lesson today, taught to me by a 3 year old.  Thank you God.
