What Kindness Looks Like

“A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.” – William Arthur Ward

Yesterday I observed an emotionally moving example of human interaction. I was stopped in my car when I noticed two young adults, whom appeared to be homeless, sitting on a curb and a woman walking up to them.

As soon as she reached the young adults, she got down to her knees and sat with them, shaking hands and all introducing themselves. It was a brief exchange before the woman pulled, what I can only assume to be, some cash out of her purse, handing it to them.

She hugged them each, and grabbed their hands. While I don’t know what was said, the two young adult started nodding vigorously, and the three huddled together in prayer.

The three prayed for quite some time, before visibly wiping tears, and hugging once more. Then, the woman went on her way.  Simple acts of kindness — They are everywhere for us to draw inspiration from, and yet still not prevalent enough in this world. Give kindness and be available to receive kindness.

We’re all in this world together, so let’s help each other out.
