Vince Gill’s 25th Opry anniversary

Vince Gill celebrated 25 years as a Grand Ole Opry member with a star-studded concert at the weekend. The singer was inducted into the prestigious country music institution in August, 1991, and on Saturday ,he commemorated the career-changing event with a concert featuring his friends, family and music idols. At the beginning of the show, Vince talked about how kind and welcoming the veteran singers were to him as a young artist, saying, “You can’t imagine the difference it makes”, noted that those on hand to share the stage that night are “beyond dear” to him. Among the performers were Vince’s musical hero Bill Anderson, Rodney Crowell, Patty Loveless, the Time Jumpers and Pistol Annies’ Ashley Monroe. Vince’s wife Amy Grant also joined her husband for a sweet duet, as well as his daughter Jenny Gill, who ironically delayed the country star’s first performance at the Opry. When he was first invited to make his Opry debut, Vince turned down organizers because he had committed to accompany Jenny on guitar while she sang “You Are My Sunshine” at her school’s talent show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyKM5tKdy7Y
