Travis Tritt went on a RANT over Beyonce’s CMA Performance

Not everyone was happy with Beyoncé’s performance with the Dixie Chicks at last week’s CMA Awards, and Travis Tritt was one of them. Tritt took to Twitter in the days following the show to voice his displeasure with the pop star’s appearance that night, with some of his tweets even drawing backlash from some online users. In one tweet, Travis wrote that “country music has appealed to millions for many years. We can stand on our own and don’t need pop artists on our awards shows.” In another tweet, Tritt said, “I want to know when the BET or SoulTrain awards are gonna ask a country artist to perform on their awards show?” Then, after some people said Tritt’s tweets might be motivated by race, the singer responded by saying, “Race has nothing to do with it. Nobody in (County Music) has done more to bridge racial gaps than me.” Travis then listed a number of African-American artists he’s worked with over the years, including Charlie Pride, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Patti Labelle, Ray Charles and more. https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794498325642887172 https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794740128279396352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/795115458261372928 https://twitter.com/Djp777Joyce/status/795418933234958336 https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794740128279396352 https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794609439588356096 https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794498325642887172 https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794397889254436865 https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794744220007415809 https://twitter.com/Travistritt/status/794739255759273984

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary."
