Stranger Danger. I’m not sure if I have ever uttered those words to Moriah but that’s how she is living life, and I have to admit I don’t mind it. Do you remember growing up in a different time? If you are over the age of say 30, you probably do. I mean I would walk out of the house after I had my morning cereal and I wouldn’t come back in until right at dark. During that time, neither mom or dad knew exactly where I was. They knew I hadn’t left the country but other that that. I could be in the woods or if they saw my bike missing they knew I was either over at my best friends Brian’s house or down the road. Most of the time, both were true, I’d go over to Brian’s then down the road we went. During that time we would stop off at other houses of people we knew or maybe some we didn’t if what they were into looked cool. We would go the the little convenience store and grab something to drink and a candy bar, talk to more people and just enjoyed the day, never worried about all the strangers we met. Well, fast forward to 2021, with all the terrible things going on in our society, when we took Moriah to see Santa the other night she refused to get on his lap and even with mommy and daddy saying it was ok, after all we knew this Santa, she still was like, uuummmm, you can hear me from here so this is close enough. I’m not sure how our next generation will develop social skills and that is something I think a lot about, but I have to admit, in today’s world, telling Santa what you want from 3 feet away made me a bit proud.
Hope y’all have a very Merry Christmas
