The Most Dangerous Cities in Kentucky Are . . .

Ummmmm excuse you FBI stats . . . Do you even know how awesome some of the places on this list truly are?!?

We don’t care what the list below says about where some of our Beaver Country fam lives! The Bluegrass State is amazing and the people are even better!!

Sure, the list is backed by statistics . . . but (comparatively speaking), some of our favorite towns are on this list and they are by no means a “bad place” to call home.

Good food? CHECK.

Good people? CHECK.

Good times? CHECK.

Alright, so that said, the website that ran the stats looked at violent crimes and property crimes . . . and according to that, below are the most dangerous cities in Kentucky:

1. Paducah – Hello?! Paducah is crawling with art, history, good food and even better scenes! You can go get your adult beverage on at the Purple Toad Winery, Dry Ground Brewing Company, or Silent Brigade Distillery . . . maybe you’d rather have a caffeine fix with some stellar java at Etcetera Coffee House . . . go exploring at Fort Massac State Park for some hiking, fishing, disc golf and more . . . you can get your history on at the Lloyd Tilghman House & Civil War Museum or the Paducah Railroad Museum. Paducah is clutch and we value our friends for making the town such a stellar place to live and visit.

2. Mayfield – When the weather warms up, you can go play at Kess Creek Park . . . take a walk to see the Wooldridge Monuments in the Maplewood Cemetery (because who doesn’t love historic cemeteries?) . . . or go check out 2 Chicks and a Farmer for some unique home decor items or gifts. Check out more ideas for amazing things to do in Mayfield HERE.

3. Oak Grove – What isn’t there to do in and around Oak Grove? History fiends can get their fix by checking out the 1890’s School House . . . take a short drive to go swim, fish, play, camp and more at Land Between the Lakes . . . check out the MB Roland Distillery in neighboring Pembroke . . . or get your instagram worthy shots on in front of the many murals around town.

4. Bowling Green – BG is geared for fun. Car enthusiasts can hit up the National Corvette Museum and the GM Corvette Assembly Plant, or even get behind the wheel or in the passenger seat the NCM Motorsports Park . . . venture into a underground labyrinth at Lost River Cave . . . get your family fun on at Beech Bend Raceway and/or Beech Bend Amusement Park and Splash Lagoon . . . Go to Basil Griffin Park to check out the Aviation Heritage Park . . . and so much more.

5. Campbellsville – It’s not Beaver country . . . so we kind of don’t care.

6. Newport – See #5.

7. Shively – See # 5 & # 6.

8. Owensboro – Get your music on at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum . . . hit up the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art or the Owensboro Museum of Science and History . . . take a walking tour around haunted locations in the area with Haunts of Owensboro . . . get your outdoors on in the Adkisson Greenbelt Park or Ben Hawes Park . . . go shopping . . . and a heck of a lot more options.

9. Frankfort – See #5 through #7.

10. Radcliff – See #9.

Blah, blah, blah.  These may statistically be the most dangerous cities in Kentucky, but we think our Beaver Country locations are pretty great!

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
