“That” Smell

I will start this off by saying, I have a friend that LOVES the smell of skunk.  She says to her it smell exactly like coffee.  I think she’s a little weird but OK, whatever.  i guess we all have smells that others find offensive.  Like I love the smell of fresh asphalt but I can’t find to many that’s in my corner for that one.  With that said, last night we had a visit, and I guess he/she wanted to let EVERYONE know they had been there because it left, “that smell”.  It was a a flippin’ skunk.  Now we live out in the country and have some woods around us, so I keep a window cracked just about all the time.  After all I remember growing up and my granny and paw-paw always saying a little fresh air is will always help you feel better.  So I’ve just carried that throughout my life, even when it’s 20 degrees out, I have a window cracked a bit.  However, last night, I just about gagged.  I’m not sure how close that critter was, but DANG, I think that rascal was right outside my window.  If you’ve ever been awakened by a pungent smell then you know what I mean.  I woke up coughing, and I think I may have, at least mentally said a word that I shouldn’t have but for the first time in probably 20 years, I slept last night with the window closed.  Thank you Mr/Ms Skunk.  You ruined my night and I hope you are happy.
