Study Shows Living Closer to Nature Makes Us Happier

This is definitely a “to each their own” type of situation, but for us — it really seems like a super obvious observance . . .

A study in England found the closer you live to nature, the happier you are.

The researchers looked at stats from over 25,000 people and found those within walking distance of parks or other open areas tend to have higher levels of self-worth and overall life satisfaction.

The study specifically looked at “urban green spaces” (meaning parks, open fields in cities and other suburban areas), and also found that living closer to nature can have a bigger impact on your mental health than income.

Being within walking distance to the nature area was what was so key in this study — living within 1,000 feet of a two-and-a-half acre park (like, too football fields) was associated with an 8% bump in overall life satisfaction — so that’s pretty clutch.
