FORT CAMPBELL< KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Sunday saw 220 soldiers with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (BCT), “STRIKE”,step off the plane at Fort Campbell as they returned from a nine-month deployment to Iraq. A Welcome Home Ceremony is always a special occasion for everyone, but it was made even more special for Specialist Holly Maxwell. Along with family, Maxwell was welcomed by Sgt. Jeremiah Holt who had had a very important question for her. Actually not “a question,” but “the question.” On one knee, Holt opened the box containing the ring and proposed. Holt said later with all of the noise around them he didn’t hear her say yes, but the excitement on her face and her nod of yes was enough. While still reeling from the proposal Maxwell was able to share her feelings. “This is the craziest thing ever, I’m shaking, this is surreal, this is the best feeling ever,” said Maxwell. Sgt. Holt, also a soldier, serving with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell, said this while waiting for Maxwell’s plane to land. “I’ve just been really looking forward to the day. Me and her family have all kind of worked this out and talked about it. We all came to the conclusion this would be the best time for me to do it, it’s pretty nerve-racking but I think I’m more anxious than nervous,” Holt said. More 2nd BCT soldiers are scheduled to return home on Tuesday.
