Sliding Into Those DMs is the New Courting Technique for Dating

For those that don’t know, “sliding into DMs” is when you send a Direct message to someone on Twitter/Instagram, confidently and smoothly to get them to notice you.

Remember that whole thing about Carly Pearce wanting to get with Michael Ray so she slid into his DMs so he’d notice her?   Well she learned it from Cassadee Pope, who used the technique to land her boyfriend, TV’s Sam Palladio.  Turns out Pope was tipped off to the new age social media courting tactic by Mandy Moore.

Cassadee shared with Pop Culture, “I was inspired by Mandy.  She met her husband through slipping into the [DMs], so that was kind of like an inspiration.  So now I get to pass on the knowledge and experience to Carly.” Pope continued, “I thought it was so funny that she talked about it.  I didn’t even remember that I told her that’s how I met Sam, or that that’s how we started dating.  I wasn’t telling her to give her advice, I was just talking about how I met him.  And so it was really funny.”

Side note about Cassadee Pope: She just dropped her new single “One More Red Light.”  What do you think of it?
