Police: Woman arrested for DUI crashed with 6 kids in vehicle

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville woman has been charged with DUI and child abuse and neglect after allegedly driving under the influence with six children in her vehicle. According to an arrest warrant, an officer responded to a call for service after a crash April 29 near Granny White Rd. and N. Whitfield Rd. The officer said he saw a vehicle at the dead end. Several children were sitting on the curb and a woman was walking around the vehicle. The woman initially told the officer the driver of the vehicle “took off running” but eventually admitted she was the driver. The officer said the woman, identified as 28-year-old Alisha White, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and was unsteady. White reportedly admitted to taking five shots of alcohol. White’s five young children, including an infant, were in the vehicle at the time. The sixth child in the vehicle is not one of White’s children. The children told the officer they were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The arrest warrant says White also received a DUI charge in July of 2014. White was arrested and charged with 2nd offense DUI, three counts of aggravated child abuse/neglect, and three counts of child abuse/neglect. The report does not indicate whether any of the children were injured.
