CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Crews have recovered a vehicle that rolled into the Cumberland Rover at McGregor Park last month. Jerry Buchanan, Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency Director, said the Rescue Squad determined the location of the car prior to Riverfest (September 8-10), but waited until after the festival to remove it from the river. Divers visited the location Wednesday at McGregor Park and attached a cable from a wrecker to the car in order to pull it from the water. Last month, a maintenance worker told ClarksvilleNow.com he watched the red Volkswagen roll from a parking lot, cross Riverside Dr., and hit a lamp post on the Riverwalk before rolling over the embankment and into the water where it eventually sank. No one was in the vehicle at the time, according to witnesses.
