Not sure where my love for these came from. My family were all recliner fans, but I love old rockers. Not sure why, but I can sit in an old wood rocking chair for hours and just listen to the creaks as the wood gives while you move back and forth. I remember going to a place back in Virginia called Snoopers, a HUGE antique store, and I saw a rocker in there and I fell in love with it. Well, guess what? Like so many things like that in life, you look at it and maybe even fondle it some, but ultimately, you walk away and justify why you didn’t get it. My justification, it was 50 dollars. I have thought of that rocker so many times since then and that was probably 30 years ago. Ever since then, I’m not sure if I am trying to find a rocker to replace that memory or if in my mind that was the most comfy rocker and I’m trying to find one that’s as comfy. Who knows, but I love old racking chairs and I’ve had a few and have gotten rid of some, but when I see an old rocker, on a porch or inside somewhere, know that if there’s a chance, my butt will be trying it out, and if it’s for sale, know that I will be tempted to bring that sucker home and enjoy it’s creaks.
