More 101st soldiers set to return home Thursday

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Soldiers from 2nd Brigade Combat Team “STRIKE”, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) are scheduled to return home Thursday. Family, friends and fellow soldiers will gather at a ceremony to welcome the returning soldiers home from their nine-month deployment to Iraq and other areas in Southwest Asia where the unit performed duties as the task force supporting the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command – Operation Inherent Resolve. Task Force Strike’s primary mission was to advise and assist, train, and equip the Iraqi security forces to fight and defeat Da’esh; but they also conducted precision surface-to-surface fires; supported a multitude of intelligence and logistical operations for Coalition and Iraqi forces, as well as base security throughout the area of operations.
