Life’s Unwritten Rules We Should All Be Following

Some things shouldn’t have to be stated . . . but because we all know common sense is not common, here are some unwritten rules of life we should be following:

1) Chew with your mouth closed, and don’t talk when your mouth is full. It’s nasty. No one wants to see your saliva-filled mashed up food mid-chew.

2) Don’t start drama at a funeral. Why does this even have to be stated?

3) Let people exit the elevator before you get on it.

4) When grocery shopping, don’t leave your cart in the middle of the aisle. Ever.

5) If you finish the last of the toilet paper, replace the roll. BTW, the correct placement of TP is over, not under.

6) If you’re borrowing something from someone, and it’s not the first or second time you’ve borrowed said item . . . just go buy your own already!

7) If you borrow someone’s car, put some gas back in it before you return it.

8) If you borrow some clothes from a friend, ask if it’s alright to wash it before returning it. Some people are very particular on how their clothing is laundered, but don’t just return it dirty without asking first.

9) If you’re in public and want to listen to music or watch a video on your phone/tablet/computer, keep in mind that others don’t want to hear it, too. That’s what headphones are for. Forgot your headphones? That’s a you problem.

10) If someone hands you their phone to show you a picture, do NOT swipe left or right. Anything else on that phone, other than what is on the screen when handed over, is NOT your business.

11) Don’t correct someone’s grammar on social media. True, some people don’t know the difference between “their,” “they’re,” and “there,” and yes it might be annoying to read “could of” instead of “could’ve” or “could have,” but just stop. A lot of times people had a typo or auto-correct messed everything up. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe the person is genuinely grammatically challenged. Either way, stop grammar policing everyone. No one likes it.

12) If you go to see a movie at a movie theater instead of waiting to watch the flick in the comfort of your own home, don’t carry on a conversation once the film has started, and do NOT answer your phone. If you get a call you have to answer, exit the theater and then you do you.

There are so many more unwritten rules of life we should be following. What’s one you want to share?
