Is it spring yet?  In our minds I guess we mark what time of the year is is by events.  And we just had the “Big Game” but my family was never really big into sports so I never really gravitated to that.  It was always more for me when Paw Paw sowed the lettuce bed.  And it would be around this time of year.  I remember getting the big thick clear plastic and helping dig the bed then sowing the seeds and covering the bed with that plastic.  I was way to young to understand why we used plastic when I first started helping but one of my early garden jobs each year was to help with the lettuce bed.  And I remember having some big snows after we sowed the seeds and I always wondered if the lettuce would still come up as snowy and cold it was, but sure as shootin’ every year by the end of march we were getting lettuce.  Those were some good memories.  So sure we will still have some cold and maybe even some snow but for me, in my mind, I’m just hanging around because since it’s time to sow the lettuce bed, I know spring is not toooooo far off.
