Jake Owen Struggles Being Away From His Daughter While On the Road

Being on the road can be taxing on anyone, physically and emotionally, but throw in the added distance from your family, and touring can feel (at times) unbearable.

Jake Owen struggles when he has to be away from his daughter, and missing important events, like daddy-daughter dances, only makes it worse.

Owen dished to Taste of Country on the changes in his life since his daughter Pearl, now 5, was born.

Once upon a time, Owen loved traveling and couldn’t understand why his band and crew members couldn’t wait to get off the road. He shares, “I would watch as my band members would get off the bus and just couldn’t wait to get home.  I never could totally understand that feeling.  Now I not only have a reason to go home, but I want to go home.”

He continues, “There was a daddy-daughter dance, and it was the same [day] that I had a show booked.  I hate that I have to miss those moments.”

Owen has hopes to find a how-to-cope manual when he has to miss important events in this daughter’s life, saying, “One thing I never have been able to find is a manual telling me how to travel around and play music when you have a little girl missing you at home.  It’s not like I can turn to page 89 and figure out the best way to do that.  It’s tough.”

We know one thing is for sure . . .  Jake Owen is a mad that would rather be home with his daughter than kickin’ it down to the honkytonk.

Oh, speaking of – – –  Tell us what you think of Jake Owen’s latest song “Down To The Honkytonk” on The Beaver 100.3 FM Facebook Page.
