I accomplished a DIY improvement and totally impressed myself

I can’t believe I pulled this off!

So, I’m not certain who the cheap company or person that built my deck is, but….no problem, I fixed your errors!  Who doesn’t use pressure treated wood on a deck?

So, about a year I noticed the planks on the deck were a little “spongy.” I did some investigating and found that the joists were rotten! Let say this much…that half of the deck was added after the house was built and sold. The reason I know this is because if you google my house and see the older pics, it has half a deck.

ANYWAY, I watched videos on how to do this…honestly, it was simpler than I thought! BUT! Those joists were freaking heavy! So I get the joists on…always remembering, measure twice cut once! My joists were dead on!

I got them all in on the brackets (which i did not have to replace) Started putting the planks back on, I get 12 of 22 planks back on and I RAN OUT OF deck screws! I’ve got to go back to Home Depot and get more so i can 100% finish!

Here are the pics of the joists I replaced…THEY WERE BAD!!! I’m lucky somebody didn’t fall through…namely me!

Now for the moment of truth….the finished product!
