Over the weekend my fiance and I took the kids to Venture River Water Park.
I knew it was going to be hot and we brought plenty of sunscreen for the kids. I barely burn in the sun so I didn’t put any sunscreen on. Oh boy am I paying for it today.
My shoulders are as red as a tomato and it hurts to have a shirt on. I thought I was tough and didn’t need sunscreen, boy was I wrong.
Now, I need to figure out how to treat my sunburn. I always knew Aloe Vera worked but I found out today to use Apple Cider Vinegar.
I found an article on MedStar Health’s website saying what I should and shouldn’t do:
Do’s –
- run cool or room-temperature water over the burn areas to soothe pain
- keep the skin clean with soap and water
- moisturize the burn with non-scented lotion (aquaphor and aloe vera)
Don’ts –
- ice will cause frostbite
- food products such as mustard, ketchup, butter and honey
- alcohol or hydrogen peroxide
What are some ways you have treated your sunburn?
