How Do You Get Your Kids To Clean Up?

Our oldest daughter has been living with us for the past month and she has developed some really bad habits from living with her grandparents.

One of her bad habits is when she grabs something out of her dresser drawers she leaves the drawers either wide open or pulls it completely from the dresser and leaves it on the ground.  Now, when I tell her to come and close it she doesn’t give me any flack or anything, she does it no problem.  But, why do I have to tell her everyday to do it?  It has gotten to the point when I yell her name from her room she knows exactly what I am talking about.

Another one of her bad habits is eating and letting crumbs fall everywhere.  Her grandparents have dogs, so they just let the crumbs fall and the dogs eat whatever falls.  I started making her vacuum but that didn’t seem to stop the food from falling.  I made her vacuum like 2-3 days in a row and she responded with, “I just vacuumed yesterday.”  I replied with, “I know.”

Kids, ya gotta love ’em.
