Thought I would share a pic of my granny’s biscuit cutter. Why? because I think we all have those things that have no monetary value but because of the history of that item, money can’t buy it. This biscuit cutter is one of those things. When my granny and paw paw died, you know how it is. Family comes in and lays claim to things and things leave that you used all the time but because they are of some value, they are taken. Well, that’s sort of the story behind this old biscuit cutter. After everything had been picked over and they had left, I walked into the house and saw this. The tool that granny used every morning. The tool she used to make sure we had a good breakfast every single day. The thing she grabbed every morning after putting coffee on and had it beside her when she flattened the dough. Paw paw made this for granny back in the 50’s and it was all she ever used. So when family got her quilts, their old furniture and all that, yeah it hurt, but they left one thing that I saw granny use more than just about anything else, this old biscuit cutter.
On a side note, I learned how to make homemade biscuits just so every now and then i can use it and not just have it up on a shelf. This old biscuit cutter was homemade with my paw paws hands and my granny’s hands used it just about every day of her life and to me many can’t buy that.
