Fletch & Jai were reading a story on how milk helps alleviate a sunburn. Something about the vitamin A and vitamin D helping to heal and the lactic acid acting as an exfoliant to help get rid of the dead/singed skin cells.
Fletch says just hopping into the shower after being outside helps heal his burns, but Jai’s a little more delicate. She swears by Noxzema. “Cake that stuff on, let it do it’s thing overnight while you sleep, then rinse it off in a lukewarm shower,” Jai encourages.
Well, we asked you and y’all had some stellar home remedies:
Beaver listener Jessica said she uses egg whites. Just rub them on, sleep in it and then shower it off in the morning.
Another Jessica called in and said she’s tried the milk thing before, and it didn’t work. She told us that the milk just soured on her skin because her skin was too hot from the burns, and the whole thing ended up just being painful and gross.
Sam told us that his grandma use to swear by the fresh aloe vera plant, breaking it off and wiping the innards on the skin. He also says Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) does wonders. Listeners, Tom & Kim agreed on using Vinegar. Kim told us that putting white vinegar on a cotton ball and dabbing it on the skin helps.
Susan told us that when she was little, her mom would put vinegar in a spray bottle and spray it on her burns , but told us it hurt with a fiery passion. Susan agrees with Jai and swears by Noxzema.
Bo’s remedy is quite simple… don’t go outside.
