Headed to space
Headed to space

It’s the first time since 2011 that America has put astronauts into space from an American rocket on American soil. I remember when it was announced that NASA was going to wind down our space exploration and we would be using Russian equipment to send our people into space and the ISS. I remember feeling like America was giving up a spot on the world stage as being a leader and pioneer on this front. I know in the big scheme of things I don’t guess it matters that much but dang, if it weren’t for space exploration we would not have Velcro. I was the kid who was so blown away with the space shuttle program and was in front of the TV for so many launches then of course Challenger on that January morning. I still can tell you the weather, it was so cold with around a foot of snow on the ground and the sky was such an amazing blue color. So I guess we all have things that make us feel a bit more proud to be an American and for me, this is one of those things. I’m glad we are stepping into that arena again. Thank you NASA and SpaceX.
