Happy Tax Day

Or as we like to call it, “National File for an Extension Day.”

When it comes to doing taxes, how do you measure up to the rest of the population?

In a survey polling 1,500 Americans with the question:  “Considering what you GET from the federal government, do you think you pay MORE than your fair share of taxes, LESS than your fair share, or about the right amount?”

6% think they pay LESS than their share, 35% think they pay TOO MUCH, 33% say it’s about right, and 26% say the just don’t know.

What about the other stats? We’re glad you asked!

  • 71% had their taxes filed by the beginning of this month.
  • 6% admitted to waiting until the night before Tax Day to file.
  • 7% claim they actually enjoy doing their taxes each year. (seriously, who are you people?)

Here are the TOP 5 ways we tend to use any money we may get back from our tax refund check:

  1. Pay off debt
  2. Add it to our checking/savings account
  3. Treating ourselves to something nice
  4. Spending the money on necessities
  5. Paying for big item needs, like car repairs

Happy Taxing…
