Happiness is a happy tummy!

The more researchers look at gut health the more they discover. One of the latest findings is that mood is affected. Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, both in Boston, looked at gut health and here is what they found out:

(CBS Mornings)

There is a clear link between women’s emotional health and their gut health
Our bodies have a direct connection via the vagus nerve to send messages between the gut and the brain
Symptoms of abdominal pain and irregularity do often coincide with anxious and depressive symptoms
Dealing with stress and gut health at the same time helps patients heal
Happier people have great gut health
How do we keep our gut healthy? Here are some ways:

Eat fermented foods
Eat foods with prebiotic fiber
Nosh on foods High in Tryptophan
Try foods rich in healthy fats
One other thing to focus on is to stay away from processed and high-sugar foods, such as refined grains, sweets and sugary drinks.
