Friendship bracelets…remember those?

Remember in the 80’s when we made friendship bracelets and friendship pins? The bracelets were embroidery thread, braided to a length and voila, you had a bracelet to give to a friend! The pins were basic safety pins. You’d pry open at the circle and you put little, tiny beads on it, crimp the circle back together and voila, you had a blinged out safety pin to give to a friend.

This mom takes it to a different level though.

An Etsy shop (Pig tails and Pixie Dust) owner is cashing in on the friendship bracelet trend at Taylor Swift’s tour. Swifties across the U.S. are making the bracelets to trade and hand out to other fans during all stops on the “Eras Tour.”

Jamie Tompkins in Oklahoma City said she sold over five-thousand Taylor Swift inspired hand-made friendship bracelets on her Etsy shop over the summer, making about 16-thousand-dollars in sales. The mom told CNN her bracelet-making paid more than her full-time job as an events manager. She got the idea to make the bracelets after taking her daughter to see Tayor’s show and seeing the bracelet trend.
