Nope, not a joke . . . They’re friends and they’re both coming to the party this flu season.
So, you know how there are two different types of flu strains — type A and type B?
Well, turns out they are BOTH circulating this year, which is apparently super rare and not the yearly norm.
That means, we’re much more likely to get the flu TWICE this year!
Usually, we’ll get the flu and then our body will build up antibodies against the strain, making us unlikely to get it again anytime soon.
With the two strains going around, that’s not likely. Just because our body builds up antibodies against one strain, doesn’t mean it help against the other strain.
UGH!
The “they” people are calling it a “double-barrel flu season” and it’s super not great.
Type A is the one we typically see each winter, but this year type B was apparently having FOMO and crashed the party.
The kicker . . . we’re only halfway through flu season.
So, if you were feeling good about the fact that you already got the flu so you should be good for the rest of the season . . . think again.
