A little girl was just trying to stay busy at her Wisconsin home while her mom hosted a three-day yard sale, and instead, lit up her Germantown community.
Molly Stephens needed something for her three year old daughter, Lainie, to keep entertained with during the long weekend yard sale when she landed on the idea of a lemonade stand.
She figured it would be a good learning experience for her three year old, but they could also donate the funds to the totally community funded Germantown Police Department’s K9 Unit.
They figured a young child’s lemonade stand would make about $40 over the three days of the yard sale.
Well, they underestimated . . .
The Germantown Police’s own Chief Peter Hoell stopped by the lemonade stand, and ended up posting a photo of Lainie and her lemonade stand on the police department’s social media . . . and people took notice of that post!
So many people in the community stopped by to get some of Lainie’s lemonade and contribute to the police department’s K9 division, the three ear old made over $700.
Seven Hundred Dollars!! That’s so awesome!
Members of the Germantown Fire Department even came out to say hi and support the cause at Lainie’s lemonade stand.
Lainie proudly served customers some of her “really tasty” lemonade and “really yummy” puppy chow.
(Puppy chow is also known as muddy buddies, muddy munch, and reindeer chow.)
Lainie proudly hand delivered the money to the Germantown Police Department last week, with the funds going to help the department get another K9 and accompanying squad car.
Molly shared, ” [There’s a] great sense of community. Everybody working toward the greater good of the community and wanting it to be a great place to live.”
