Feel Good Story: Third Grader Pays Off Students’ Lunch Debt

Stories of people helping people is what it’s all about, and this 9 year old boy has our hearts feeling so full from his act of kindness.

Ryan Kirkpatrick (9) is a third grader at West Park Elementary School in Napa, CA, and recently had a conversation with his mom about kids who couldn’t always afford their school lunches.

A kid not being able to afford lunch at school was something that Ryan just knew wasn’t right, and wanted to do something about it.

Ryan’s mom, Kylie Kirkpatrick, reached out to the school to find how much was owed in unpaid lunch debt. Upon learning it was around $75, Kylie asked her 9 year old son what he wanted to do about.

Ryan decided to use his allowance to pay off the lunch debt for his entire grade to support his classmates that are less fortunate than he is.

“I want them to realize that people actually think about them. I want them to feel happy someone cares about them,” the third grader shared with one of the area’s local news stations.
