Feel Good Story: Teens Save Elderly Neighbor from House Fire

90 year old Catherine Ritchie lives alone just outside Tulsa, Oklahoma and was getting ready for bed, but when she walked into her room, her mattress was on FIRE!

It’s unclear how the fire started, but when Catherine realized she couldn’t get the fire put out, she hit her emergency call button and started making her way out of the house.

However, the smoke had become so thick that Catherine was struggling to find her way out of the house, even walking into a closet instead.

Four teens had just come outside to walk to a convenience store for snacks when they smelled something burning. and ran to Catherine’s house to help.

Three of the teens were trying, unsuccessfully, to break down Catherine’s front door to get in to help, but the fourth teen, named Nick Byrd, went around back to try to find another way in.

Nick was able to get in, and once he found Catherine, he scooped her up and carried her outside to safety.

Firefighters arrived and were able to stop the fire from spreading and saved the house, while Catherine shares she’s extremely grateful for the “special” young men that came to her rescue.
