Feel Good Story: Soldier Gives Away Money Raised for Him After Home was Looted

Talk about a story of people showing kindness, and that kindness being paid forward . . .

Luis Ocampo is a 24 year old Army medic in Charlotte, who had to leave his home when his National Guard unit got the call to help with Hurricane Florence relief efforts.

During this time, Ocampo’s girlfriend and son were staying with family, but did go back to check on their home, only to find it ransacked from looters.

EVERYTHING of value – TVs, gaming systems, computers – had been stolen, as well as some food in their fridge.

Though police are investigating the looting, someone started a GoFundMe for Ocampo, which garnered over $15,000 in ONE DAY!

Here’s the thing, though . . .

Ocampo is GIVING AWAY most of the money raised for his household.

Ocampo tells People, “We got more than we expected, and felt that it was our responsibility to show someone that same kindness that so many showed us.”
