Feel Good Story: Seven Year Old Raising Money to Buy Stuffed Animals for Sick Kids

A few years ago, four year old Alex Walker used all the money in her piggy bank to buy 13 teddy bears for sick kids.

Having epilepsy, Alex has had more than her fair share of hospital stays and that’s when she noticed other sick kids she’d met didn’t have a stuffed animal or other comforting toy/object.

Originally, she’d wanted to give the other patients some of her stuffed animals, but couldn’t because of germs and all that (only NEW toys are permitted), so Alex busted open her piggy bank, took all $65 of her cash stash and bought 13 new teddy bears.

Now, at seven year’s old, the young lady from Cleveland is still practicing her acts of kindness to bring plush and comforting toys to other kids.

Since the original 13 teddies, Alex has purchased another 400 plush toys thanks to donations and selling tomato plants she GROWS HERSELF!

Each month, Alex and her mom deliver stuffed animals to kids at the Cleveland Clinic, and now they’re about to hand out a lot more.

GoFundMe.com does this thing called “Kid Hero” where they highlight one kid each month who is doing amazing things for their community and for others, and Alex was named their Kid Hero for the month of June.

Thanks to GoFundMe spreading the word for “Alex’s Fluffy Buddies for Kids,” even more donations have been flooding in, and – as of this posting – Alex has raised over $22,000.
