Feel Good Story: Seniors Conquer Loneliness and Chores with Help from ‘Grandkids On-Demand’ App

Some senior citizens don’t have family to rely on, or grandkids to help with chores or spend time with, and that’s why Andrew Parker started “Join Papa,” a company that hooks college students up with elderly in the community.

Join Papa is an app where seniors can sync up with youth in their community. Most of the college students are in the nursing or social work programs, and ALL are carefully vetted and trained to truly help their senior counterpart.

Called “Papa Pals,” the college students are given personality tests to determine if they have the right sense of compassion and disposition to serve the lonely seniors.

Andrew shares, “We have found that Papa Pals who join our platform and go through our rigorous onboarding process are more productive and engaged. They have the power to choose their own hours and we have created an environment that lets our Papa Pals be independent.”

Currently, there are over 300 Papa Pals ready and able to care for seniors through Join Papa, helping them with grocery shopping, cleaning their homes, other chores and really just spending time together.
