Feel Good Story: Second Grader Erased Lunch Debt for Hundreds of Students

People helping people , and kids helping kids . . . that’s what it’s all about!

We’ve been hearing more an more stories about the student lunch debt, and kids leaning in to help their classmates.

The latest story comes out of Vancouver, Canada where an eight year old raised a massive amount of funds to help pay off school lunch debts.

Keoni Ching may only be in the second grade, but the young student with a big heart was inspired to help others during his school’s “Kindness Week.”

Franklin Elementary School has been hosting “Kindness Week” for the past four years, where the efforts lie in encouraging the students to spread messages of kindness.

After learning about Richard Sherman (Cornerback for the 49ers) and how he paid off lunch debt at two schools, Keoni wanted to do something like that for his schoolmates.

Keoni and his parents came up with the idea of making custom bracelets and selling them for $5 each.

Before he knew it, Keoni had raised $4,051! $503 of the funds went to pay off lunch debts at his school, while the rest of the money helped SIX OTHER SCHOOLS!!

After all that, little bit of funds were still left over . . . so the rest will stay at Franklin Elementary to help out with any future debts.

Check out Keoni sharing his story HERE.
