Teachers (and Professors) are truly some of the best people in this world!
When a college student in Georgia couldn’t find a babysitter for her child while she attended a three hour long anatomy class, she had two options – skip the class, or go with the baby en tow.
The student called Ramata Sissoko Cissé, an assistant professor of biology at Georgia Gwinnett College, the night before class regarding the lack of a babysitter and the need to bring her child to class the following day.
A mother of three herself, Ramata said it would be OK to bring the child into class . . . and then offered to HELP!
“I said, ‘Hand be the baby,'” Ramata said.
The professor offered to hold the baby during class so the mama could take notes.
Quickly realizing she couldn’t hold the baby AND write on the white board herself, Ramata improvised a baby-wearing type of wrap using a lab coat, and continued through with her lecture.
The student, who asked to remain anonymous, later emailed her professor to thank her for her help and kindness, to which Ramata simply replied, “You’re welcome, I’ll always be there for you.”
As for the philosophy of the classroom, “love and compassion,” is what it’s all about.
