She says don’t call her a hero because it was more of a “right place, right time” thing . . . but “right place, right time” only works when with the right person.
Chyanne Thomas is a California postal worker who has been with the Vista Post Office in San Diego for about a year, but she has gone way above her work obligations.
She located TWO missing children while out delivering mail along her routes, and her fast acting and quick thinking helped the kids be safely reunited with their families.
The first youngster was a 15 year old girl, Abby, with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who had wandered off and gone missing.
Chyanne was driving her route and recalled the 15 year old’s description when she came across her. Chyanne pulled over and approached the young woman to help.
“I immediately [flew] into action. I pulled over with no hesitation . . . [and said, ‘I’m missing.’ She goes, ‘You’re missing? I’ll stay. I’ll help’ … I played her role. I [didn’t] want her to run away,” shares the quick thinking hero.
Chyanne immediately called 911 and relayed to authorities that she had found Abby, who was “dehydrated, but otherwise in good health.”
A few weeks later, while driving along her mail route, Chyanne came across a toddler walking by herself in the street.
“I immediately jumped out of the truck again … She came and squeezed me so tight, with tears . . . She was so excited that someone helped out,” shared Chyanne.
Again, Chyanne called 911 and stayed with the little girl until the mother arrived.
This isn’t a one off – or two off – situation that caused Chyanne to respond the way she did . . . She shares, “I love my job at the post office . . . If a child was in need, I would step in to help again.”
