An interaction between a young mother and police officers in Savannah, Georgia ended in pure kindness and appreciation.
The 21 year old driver was stopped last week for not having a license plate on the vehicle, but when the officers walked up tot he car, they noticed twin 1 year old boys in the backseat who weren’t in proper car seats.
As it turns out, the mother “had her original vehicle stolen recently, hence the no license plate . . . she had also just started a new job,” the police department shared in a Facebook post.
That’s when the officers decided to lean in to help, by buying her new car seats.
Cpl. Steve Bland went to the store, while Officer Austin Neumann and Officer William Daniels kept the kids occupied and entertained.
At first, the boys were scared and crying, so Officer Neumann “kind of leaned down next to [one of the twins]. He just turned right to me and wanted to be picked up,” he shares.
Officer Neumann continues, “And that was it — we were just best friends after that. He didn’t want to be let down.”
Kelsey Neumann, Officer Neumann’s wife, said she “didn’t expect anything less” from her husband and his colleagues.
Once the officers installed the car seats, the mother and her twins “drove away with a completely different outlook on police,” the department shared on Facebook.
