Feel Good Story: Ohio Barber Accommodates 7 Year Old with Autism

Taking a moment to show kindness to another is what it’s all about.

A family in Ohio experienced the feeling of pure joy and gratitude when a neighborhood barber leaned in to assist a 7 year old on the Autism Spectrum.

Brycen Juby (7) had picture day coming up and his mom wanted to make sure he was ready for the photo op . . . which was extra special because it would mark his first year in public school.

It was the beginning of a new chapter for Brycen.

Hi dad had been the one to usually cut Brycen’s hair at home, but it was still an ordeal that would cause a full blown “meltdown every time.”

The parents decided to get their son to a professional, and scheduled an appointment at Marky Fresh Barbershop in Mentor.

Co-owner of the shop, Marco Conti, assured the parents the shop would accommodate the family however possible, all to ensure Brycen’s comfort.

For a calmer environment, the stylist agreed to cut Brycen’s hair after the shop closed . . . but upon arriving, the 7 year old still began to feel overwhelmed.

Because Brycen seemed to be more comfortable outside, Marco decided to just bring the chair and his equipment outside for the haircut.

Brycen’s dad cradled his face while Marco worked his hair cutting magic

Marco hopes this will help others in the area who have a family member with special needs know that there are people around who want to help, and will work to accommodate, stating, “This has opened doors for those parents that were silent and those that just didn’t know that we are more than willing to help.”
