Feel Good Story: Officers Don’t Arrest Shoplifter

A film and TV director in New York was at a Whole Foods when he witnessed — and then tweeted — a shoplifter’s interaction with three NYPD police officers.

Police had been dispatched to the grocery store regarding a woman who had been accused of shoplifting.

Paul Bozymowski tweeted a photo of the woman with her hands and a tissue over her face while the officers stood with her near the exit of the Whole Foods in Union Square.

The caption of Paul’s photo: “This woman was being held by security. She had food in her bag she didn’t pay for. When the NYPD showed up, they paid for her food.

Retweeting Paul was the police force’s chief of department, Terence Monahan, adding that the three officers are part of the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group, and “are the kind-hearted cops who quietly do good deeds for New Yorkers in need.”

A very good reminder to be generous, kind, and practice patience with each other. Everyone is going through something, and carrying the weight of their world. So, let’s help each other out.
