Feel Good Story: Nine Year Old Gets Snowball Fight Ban Overturned

This is like a Christmas version of Footloose, but with kids.

For the last 98 years, a Colorado town called Severance has had banned snowball fights.

The long standing law stated that it was illegal to throw objects at people, animals or property, so it was kind of more about not throwing rocks or stuff that would hurt people, and even though no one had been arrested for throwing a snowball, it still was technically illegal.

That is, until Monday, when nine year old Dane Best, a Severance, Colorado local decided to take the issue to city council.

On Monday, Dane showed up to a council meeting, donning a bowtie, and gave a heartfelt and passionate three minute speech on why the law is unjust and outdated.

When the city council members voted on overturning the law, it was a UNANIMOUS decision in favor of SNOWBALL FIGHTS!

Kids that were there with their parents cheered at the new law being passed, permitting snowballs to be thrown LEGALLY!

The town mayor presented Dane with two snowballs, and he and his four year old brother Dax were the FIRST in town history to legally throw snowballs.

Dane has one win under his belt and he’s ready for more.  Apparently, there’s this other law, that states you can only have a maximum of three pets.  Dane wants to see that law overturned as well, especially since technically he’s currently fostering an illegal guinea pig.

Alright Hallmark Movie Network, you’re up.  We want to see this story play out on the small screen for next Christmas please.
