Feel Good Story: Nine-Year-Old Collecting Halloween Candy to Send to the Troops

Most kids live for all the free candy they get on Halloween, but one nine-year old has a very different reason for collecting the sugary loot.

Libbie Stanton from Vail, Colorado may only be 9, but her heart’s kindness is far beyond her years.

She’s never been a big fan of candy, actually she HATES the stuff, but Halloween is still a big time of year for Libbie.

There’s a charity called Soldiers’ Angels, and they have a program – Treats for Troops – aiming to send candy to troops and veterans. For the last three years, Libbie has been a big part of it. The nine-year-old does her part in encouraging people to donate their leftover Halloween candy.

The first year, in 2016, Libbie collected about 80 lbs of candy. Last year, she was able to pull in 600 lbs of candy. This year, her goal is 1,000 lbs of candy.

Not sure if she reached her goal as of this posting, but Libbie started the season with total confidence she’d be hitting her goal.

You can get involved and help Libbie and Soldier’s Angels to send candy tot he troops and veterans by visiting. SoldiersAngels.org/TreatsForTroops.
